Some artists have larger discographies than many people have record collections and one such prolific creator is Jim O’Rourke. Beginning as a teen with a love of Derek Bailey and whatever out-there music he could lay his hands on, his early recordings with Gastr Del Sol and others, his tenure in Sonic Youth and his countless collaborations with people from all areas of international adventurous music make it difficult to define him in just a paragraph for a website. Now resident in Tokyo after half a lifetime on tour, Jim has quickly become a much in-demand producer in Japan whilst also continuing to prolifically release sole pieces via Bandcamp and collaborations with everyone from Kim Gordon to Keiji Haino.
