From Chiba, Japan, trombonist/composer Yasuko Kaneko joined her first big band in the early 90s following studies in both classical and jazz trombone. In 2012 she joined the band Gato Libre with trumpeter Natsuki Tamura, since releasing three albums with them as well as one as part of bandmate Satoko Fujii’s Orchestra Kobe. Neko made her recording debut as part of the large ensemble on Bill Wells’ Lemondale album alongside Jad Fair, Jim O’Rourke and many others. She also regularly performs solo and leads improvisation workshops.
